RK Prime Catering was born from another business, RK Prime Craft Sausage. Russ and Kim started the sausage business after moving to Colorado from Texas and realizing at the time, there was not any good Texas style BBQ in Colorado Springs and there certainly wasn’t any craft sausages. Russ being a big foodie, had taught himself how to make sausages back in Texas and realized he had a niche that needed to be filled here in Colorado Springs.

From that business, they started getting requests to cater Texas style BBQ. During this time Russ really honed his skills in the kitchen and started getting requests for private dinner parties for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, retirements and eventually weddings and corporate events.

If you are wondering where the RK Prime name came from, well the RK stands for Russ and Kim, a happily married couple who are transplants to Colorado from Texas, after dropping their daughter off at college in Colorado and realizing how amazing the state was.  Russ has had a dream of opening his own steakhouse for many years. He came up with the name RK Prime for the steakhouse. So, when it was time to name the sausage business, they decided they should start getting some brand awareness of RK Prime just in case.

Russ is the guy doing all the cooking and Kim is the lady behind the scenes taking care of the business side of things as well as being the best helper doing all of the other things needed for a successful catering business.
